In starting a new pastoral assignment, United Methodist pastors typically meet with the group of people serving as the church’s Pastor-Parish Relations Committee. Although one of the most important relationships, when it comes to the shared ministry of the pastor and his or her new congregation, these are often fraught with unspoken assumptions and expectations. This tool was designed to be used by pastors in that first introductory meeting to get aquainted with the new Pastor-Parish Relations Committee, clarify values and surface potential land mines.
