Training Series 2022

Event Details

Date: Thursday, February 23, 2023 | ??am – ??pm

Hosts: Church of the Resurrection’s ShareChurch Ministry

When we hear the word “care,” we almost instantly couple it with “hurting” – insinuating that we only care when people are hurting. Realtime Pastoral Care, however, is more encompassing. It includes the everyday ways we show up for people – the listening, the awareness of peoples’ life experiences, the prayers we offer, the checking in on our congregants, etc.

During the global pandemic, and as we emerge from it, the ministry of care has become vital in reconnecting people to God and in making church relevant to their lives. People are seeking meaning, they are searching for affirmation in the new post-pandemic “normal,” they are searching for sustenance for their faith that has been tested in unanticipated ways.

How do we care for our congregations in ways that offer space for people to find meaning, confidence, affirmation, and sustenance? Our team will help you rekindle the art of care in ways that are relevant, life giving and that speak of Christ’s unconditional love.

This online training takes place from 10am-3pm Central Time, with 4 sessions focusing on different aspects of caring for your congregation. Learn more in Session Descriptions.

Changing Culture and Embracing the Wesleyan “Priesthood of All Believers”

Led by: Anne Gatobu and Claire Clough

In this session, we’ll focus on how to lead an existing congregation in changing their culture of Care and developing effective care systems. What is the role and responsibility of the pastor and laity in pastoral Care?

In this session, we’ll discuss the basic skills of Care, including Active Listening, developing awareness, assessments, and the ministry of presence.

Redefining our Congregation: Care as an Outreach Opportunity

Here, we’ll ask: What is our theology of care? How does it interface with social, economic and real time issues to connect communities beyond our church walls with God?

What People Are Saying

Thank you from a pastor in a rural town who truly appreciates the resources you are offering. Your resources lifted a load from my shoulders in a time when I needed one lifted. Thank you for your kindness; this pastor appreciates it. God bless you.

Brenda T.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!  We are shifting so much to meet the needs of our community during this time that we have really been stretching our staff resources.  I am so grateful for your willingness to share – not just the content, but also the time it took just to reply (and so quickly!)!  Really, thanks!

Darren R.

Sharechurch is such a valuable resource to us all.  I find that I access it first on many topics just to begin my research, or to confirm if we are on the right track on a number of topics.  Thank you and COR for providing this to us all.
