The Art of Hospitality

Part of the online ShareChurch Training Series 2021

Thursday April 22, 2021 | 10:00am – 3:00pm CT

Engaging worship and intentional follow-up are important, but what compels guests to return to church is the warmth of our welcome and hospitality that goes beyond their expectations.

Additional Details

When our world abruptly changed a year ago, we all had to pivot and adjust – including the church. Most of us scrambled to learn new technologies to reach our congregation and the community in digital ways. Whether the doors of your church are open or you are worshiping 100% online, now is the time to re-imagine church in a new “hybrid” world. The principles of radical hospitality remain the same, even amidst contextual and practical changes. There is no better time than now to prepare for the ministry of hospitality going forward.

Join us on April 22 for an all online conference designed to equip church leaders to make everyone feel welcome and included, from first time visitors to deeply engaged members – in person or online. Pastors, staff, and volunteers focused on the ministry of welcome, hospitality, visitor care, outreach, connections and membership will all find tangible takeaways to apply to your context.

Plan to participate in the conference to:

  • Be reminded that our demonstration of hospitality is at it’s best when we are outwardly focused
  • Examine the principles of radical hospitality in this new reality
  • Explore the power of having an effective digital front door and online worship experience
  • Share ideas on ways to equip the congregation for new hospitality practices
  • Close by answering your questions

Yvonne Gentile, Senior Director of Hospitality and Connections and Debi Nixon, Executive Director of ShareChurch and Donor Development will serve as your hosts.

All participants will receive a copy of The Art of Hospitality, published by Abingdon press. You are encouraged to read the book in preparation for the conference, so register early to give yourself time to prepare!

Watch Party for 10

Host a Watch Party at your church and gather up to 10 people to engage in the online conference together (with appropriate social distancing practices). You will receive one link to watch on the day of the event (for use on up to 2 screens) and 10 copies of The Art of Hospitality for your participants. Share the link with your participants after the event for On Demand Replay over the next 6 months (the unique watch link works for 2 screens at a time).

Your team can gather together for a time of strategic planning and debriefing during the lunch break and after the event ends. This is a great opportunity to learn the material and then dream together how you might implement the principles of radical hospitality in your context. If you have already been through The Art of Hospitality training, the Watch Party is a great opportunity to gather your volunteers for training to ensure everyone hears the same message.

Cost for a Watch Party for 10 is $389 (a 20% savings off the individual price). Have more than 10 participants? Purchase additional Watch Parties in increments of 10, and receive an additional watch link and 10 additional books.

What People Are Saying

Thank you, thank you, thank you!  We are shifting so much to meet the needs of our community during this time that we have really been stretching our staff resources.  I am so grateful for your willingness to share – not just the content, but also the time it took just to reply (and so quickly!)!  Really, thanks!

Darren R.

Sharechurch is such valuable resource to us all.  I find that I access it first on many topics just to begin my research, or to confirm if we are on the right track on a number of topics.  Thank you and COR for providing this to us all.
