Fearless Daughters of the Bible, A Study

This is a Bible study based on the book Fearless Daughters of the Bible: What You Can Learn from 22 Women Who Challenged Tradition, Fought Injustice and Dared to Lead by J. Lee Grady.  It was taught as a 7-week course for women, combining multiple chapters each week.  Participants read the chapters prior to each class session.  This instructor's outline includes discussion questions, videos and songs used to supplement the book.

    Finding Joy

In real life, we’re not always dealt the perfect hand. Relationships, careers and finances can all complicate life, leaving us unsettled, frustrated, empty and exhausted. What if you could turn the life you have into the life you want? What if life could be more meaningful and filled with real joy? What if you could develop habits that would make every day of your life better?

    Foreword
FOREWORD is a four-week introductory study, created especially for use at Church of the Resurrection, meant to help new small groups get to know each other and to lay the groundwork for the group’s future. Each lesson is structured in a way that has worked well for many small groups. While this resource was created for use at a particular church, it is easily changed to apply to your specific situation.

    Frail and Elderly Ministry Overview

Church of the Resurrection's Ministry to the Frail and Elderly, or Silver Link Ministry, creates and maintains a connection with older persons who are unable to fully engage in the life of the church. Freed-2-Lead

The church needs leaders rooted in Christ, who have a vision for changing the world. Today’s young people have fearless hearts, vibrant ideas and a passion for ministry. Their talents should be nurtured to shape the church’s path into the future. The church must invite young people – including women and people of color the world over – into ministry, equip them to be effective leaders and be open to where they want to lead us. We also must strengthen lay persons, who are ministering at every level of the church.

  • Gospel of the Nobodies
    Gospel of the Nobodies

Most of us have at some point felt like a nobody – insignificant, invisible, worthless. The Gospel of Luke is a first century portrait of Jesus with a particular focus on his ministry with those who were considered nobodies. For Lent, join us as we read through the Gospel of Luke together. Each week, we’ll turn our attention to specific stories that illustrate Jesus’ concern for those who were marginalized by society, and as we do, we’ll hear his word for our lives today. You will find here all the series resources that were produced, along with the weekly sermons. Use these resources to share “The Gospel of the Nobodies.”

  • Half Truths
    Half Truths

They are simple phrases. They sound Christian – like something you might even find in the Bible:

    • Everything happens for a reason
    • God helps those who help themselves
    • God won’t give you more than you can handle
    • Love the sinner, hate the sin
    • God said it, I believe it, that settles it

We’ve all heard these words. Maybe we’ve said them. They capture some element of truth – yet they also miss the point in very important ways. This five week sermon series breaks down these half-truths. You will find here all the series resources that were produced, along with the weekly sermons.

  • Having the Last Word
    Having the Last Word

Having the Last Word is the follow up class to Binder for Life, a personal organizational system used at Church of the Resurrection for gathering the documents needed to manage your affairs should you become incapacitated or pass away.  Having the Last Word gives participants the opportunity to craft their memorial service or funeral, complete with choosing music, scriptures and final wishes.  While directed towards people who currently attend a church, it can be an excellent outreach opportunity particularly well suited for participants to invite non- or nominally religious friends or neighbors to church. Portions of this resource reference tabs in the Binder for Life.

  • High School Bible Study - Titus
High School Bible Study - Titus
If there are two words to describe the letter of Titus, they might be “pastoral” and “practical.” The book of Titus is the brief letter of an older pastor (Paul) giving some solid and tangible advice to a younger pastor (Titus). Paul gets right to the point and doesn’t “mince words.” He is passing along words of wisdom as Titus leads his congregation and attempts to instruct them in the ways of Christ.

This high school Bible study provides a complete walkthrough of the book of Titus. It was written for use in the spring of 2020, during the time of social distancing, but can be used interchangably as an online or in person study.
